ESPN Chris Mortensen reports that Chan Gailey, whose last served as offensive coordinator of the Chiefs in 2008, is the leading man for the vacant coaching position Buffalo Bills head.

-Gailey, 58, was relieved of his play-calling duties in the preseason in 2009 and served in a lesser role with the team for the rest of the season.

-The Bills fired coach Dick Jauron mid-way through this final season, Perry Fewell and promoted for use until the end of the year. Fewell has since jumped to the New York Giants as defensive coordinator.

Chan Gailey had already coached in the NFL before, as he was at the helm of Dallas from 1998-1999. He made two appearances in the playoffs, but lost both times in the cycle of “Wild Card”.

-In addition, he coached the Trojans from Troy and Georgia Tech in 1983-1984 and 2002-2007 respectively.
